Dawlish musicians help make wishes come true

The Marine Tavern, Dawlish will be holding an open mic music night on Thursday 25th June 2009 starting at 9pm.

Local musicians including yours truly, who is playing host for the evening, will perform and everyone is welcome to come along, sing, play or just have fun and support a wonderful local charity ‘Richards Wish’.

Andy and Hilary who run the bar are terrific supporters of local causes with quizzes and other activities throughout the year. This time they selected ‘Richards Wish’, a charity that helps kids with cancer, making some of their wishes come true.

The open mic evening will be something different and special with people giving what they can afford for each song. Hopefully the more they like the performances, the more they will chip in :)

About ‘Richards Wish’

Jo Cridge writes: "Richards Wish is a charity that we wanted to set up after losing our son Richard in September 2008.

Richard had Ewings Sarcoma (childhood form of cancer) he was diagnosed in July 2006, he had 2 solid years of chemotherapy but the cancer did not give in and Richard died aged 17.

We set up the charity in memory of Richard and decided its purpose is to give treats, activities, etc to children, teens and young adults with cancer.

So far we have bought Exeter City tickets, sent a young lad to Manchester United for the day, bought several lots of driving lessons for teenagers and have just bought 714 tickets for seven little girls and their families to see Angelina Ballerina at the Princess Theatre.

Richards Wish will do anything for youngsters to help them cope with cancer.

All money raised at the Marine Tavern open mic music night will be put to very good use.”
