CRUSH UK update_29.1.9

Is this a new dawn or just false hope?

Who knows, but it feels good to be Bush free I tell thee :)

I hope this update finds you well and over any nasty seasonal bugs.

We are raring to go after a rather slow, but very jolly January.

Weller and the KatZ are going to be busy on the live front while CRUSH UK rehearse new and old material with a view to refreshing the set list and developing and recording Weller’s new songs.

Here is the news…
Web overhaul
Thanks to Webmaster supreme Leslie the CRUSH UK website
www.crushuk.com has undergone some changes.
New colours, new layout, new infrastructure, refreshed information all with an aim to simplify navigation and to make it look prettier in general ;)
We like the new look and feel, but what do you think? Do let us know.

CRUSH UK 99_09
As mentioned in the January bulletin, we have compiled a collection of twenty CRUSH UK songs recorded over the last ten years that will give you the listener a flavour of where we have been musically since Dave joined the band in 1999.
Basing sales projections on current and previous trends (!!!) tells us that we can afford to sell the CD for £5 and will ‘personalise’ the package for each buyer into the bargain. We are not expecting a rush ;)
The album will be available to order from
http://www.crushuk.com/store.html
You will receive remastered tracks and a history of where it all began and why, so please place your order via Paypal or we still accept cheques/checks if you prefer.

‘Another’ hit for CRUSH UK
Three years after our last chart hit ‘Crush’ that stayed at number 1 for weeks over Christmas 2006 we are back in the ‘big time’ ;)
CRUSH UK broke into the Top 10 Songs on Radio Free South West during December 2008 with ‘Meaning of life’.
There’s a bit of fannying about with the voting process, but do drop by and check out the music. You can cast your vote as you listen if you wish
www.live365.com/stations/dj_rfsw?play
When a song is playing on RFSW its title appears in the player window with a thumbs up/down symbol next to it. The more thumbs up a song receives the higher it gets in the chart and vice versa. There are currently 172 tracks on the RFSW play list.

Jersey

Thanks to our dear friends The Reoffenders, CRUSH UK have booked two shows at ‘Chambers’ venue in Jersey this July.

We are well excited about another jaunt across the ocean and hopefully this time we wont get stuck in Dallas on the way back ;)

London

As it is CRUSH UK’s 10th anniversary we have pushed the boat out and booked ourselves a gig at the Grey Horse, Kingston on Saturday 24th October 2009. We have a lot of friends (we hope) still in London and have starved them of our presence for the last five years, so we are looking forward to a riotous assembly ;)

KatZ

Talking of anniversaries, it’s the BobKatZ third birthday this February.

Ok it’s less than a year since Jim left, but Martin, Nick and Stewart are still hanging in there.

We have rehearsed and re-energized the set list ready for another year of pop punk delivered in a rub a dub stylie ;)

Weller solo

It has been a joy to play a few shows while the KatZ and CRUSH UK ‘rested’ through January and I am hoping to increase the number of ‘Weller’ performances and maybe even tour solo in the not too distant.

I am also enjoying hosting an open mic ‘Ladies’ night regularly at the Famous Old Barrel, Exmouth where the best singer/songwriter/performers from around the region play all different styles of music.

There are featured artists as well as folks who perhaps have never played live before.

Men are welcome too of course ;)

If you fancy a listen or play let me know or just come on down.

Oh yes, and I will be back on the wireless - Bay FM this May too.

Your events in 2009 and beyond

Please do bear us in mind to perform at your events. We are always delighted to play at weddings, birthdays and other special occasions.

Our rates are reasonable starting from £80 for an acoustic solo performance, so let us know what you need and when and we’ll be happy to oblige if we can.

Plus we are always on the look out for new venues, so if there’s a place you think we’d fit in, just let us know and we’ll give it a whirl.

Gig reviews

Please feel free to review our performances on
www.lemonrock.com or on the CRUSH UK message board http://www.eboards4all.com/066344/

It would be much appreciated.

People who read reviews are often moved to come and check us out! We know because they tell us.

Downloads of the month

By popular demand!

This month only we are still giving away a version of the Kinks ‘Autumn almanac’ and Dave Dudley’s most excellent version of Tommy Steele’s ‘Little white bull’.

Enjoy!

Come and join Weller on Myspace, Facebook or Friends reunited. It’s all good fun!

We hope to see you out and about.

Weller, CRUSH UK, KatZUpdate January 2009

Hello and good luck to you in 2009

It is customary in this society to commit oneself to some absurd masochistic torture each New Year in the form of a resolution – who knows why?

Me, I am just going to try and hate less, love more and continue to have the time of my life :)
Talking of which, here's the menu for January and February 2009

Here is the news

December was a bit of a drag on the gig front, but a real highlight was the two shows that Ben Partridge performed with the KatZ while Stewart was taking a break. 18-year-old Ben played brilliantly at the Lansdowne and Phoenix. It was a pleasure to have him in the ranks and I hope he will play with CRUSH UK and BobKatZ again.

CRUSH UK had hoped to be hopping over to one of the channel islands in February, but alas it isn't going to happen, so now we've got two dates to fill: Friday 20th, Saturday 21st February.

Meanwhile we will start recording our new record for release later this year.

Until then, to celebrate our 10-year existence we are compiling a CD full of the some of the great songs we have recorded in the last decade.

The CD '99-09' will be ready for purchase at the end of January priced £5.
Available exclusively through
www.crushuk.com The website will get a refresh too to mark our anniversary :)

While BobKatZ (soon to be three years old can you believe?) take their winter break, yours truly has a little spurt of activity :)

It is always a joy to play a few solo shows on the trot and I hope to increase the number of Weller performances over the coming year.

I am also hosting an open mic night regularly. This is something I have wanted to do for a while just to help other musicians get their music heard and gain valuable live experience.

Gig reviews

As mentioned last month, there is nothing like personal recommendation and our thanks goes to Mr Slippery Dick for his review on
www.lemonrock.com of our show on December 19th at the Kings Arms, Teignmouth.

If you would like to make your thoughts public on the CRUSH UK message board or on Lemonrock.com review section (or anywhere else come to that) it would be much appreciated.

People who read reviews are often moved to come and check us out! We know because they tell us.

PS - A special mention goes to Bry, whose support for the whole shebang is amazing. We'd like to say congratulations Grandma ;)
