CRUSH UK update June & July 2010

Welcome to the CRUSH UK update for June & July 2010

Hello again

We hope life is good.

Headline news

Clarefest 2010 – too good to miss

Due to overwhelming demand, 'Clarefest' is back on Sunday 20th June with another stunning line-up of musicians playing to raise money for cancer charities in the memory of Clare Millington who died of the disease in 1999.”

Times and running order:

2pm - Paul Downes

2.15pm – The Flaming Thistles

2.45pm – The Topsham Rock School

3.15pm - The Joyce Gang

3.45pm – CRUSH UK

4.15pm - The Clarion Clarinet Quartet

4.45pm - The Junkyard Angels

5.15pm – Broken English

5.45pm – A38s

6.15pm – Harry Dearsley

6.45pm – Eat The Rich

7.30 - Finish

Clarefest has been running since 1999 and hosts Terry and Debbie Chetwood are giving their garden over to the event once more. Clare's son, Nick Millington has organised the event with critical support from Paul Downes, Dave Atherton and a host of others that work to make the day such a joy for supporters and performers.

The first act will start around 2pm with music, fun and fund-raising going on until 7.30pm. The admission price of £6 (pay on entry) will be distributed between Macmillan, Hospiscare and the 'Force' cancer charity.

Happening this year on Sunday 20th June at:

West Wing

Varnes

Church Road (opposite the Redwing Pub)

Lympstone

Devon

EX8 5JT

Clarefest attracts villagers, internationally renowned musicians and supporters from all over the country. Bring a picnic, ground sheet, sun tan lotion, hat, woolly, raincoat and loadsa dosh.

All we need is the sun to shine and it will be perfect :)

Exmouth Festival

Wow, what an incredible experience. Chris Woods and his team did an amazing job pulling together dozens of acts representing all genres of music over nine days. I have never enjoyed a festival quite so much. Great atmosphere, quality performances and all for free in the Manor Gardens and other local venues. Big 'Ed & The Red Rockers got the crowd on their feet on Bank Holiday Monday and I really hope CRUSH UK, BobKatZ, Weller & Big 'Ed can be part of the 2011 extravaganza.

Bay FM 107.9 FM, Exmouth's local radio station did a fine job MC-ing and broadcasting some of the live acts. Hopefully the station will be back on air again next year.

Saddlersfest, Saddlers Arms, Lympstone

The sun shone and the music was incredible at this year's pre Exmouth Festival event. Jamie Gould, Adam Sweet, Laurie Ward band, The Beacons and Workshy Rabbit put on terrific performances out in the garden followed by Wired and the BobKatZ rounding the day of in style in the Saddlers. We hope to include Saddlersfest in the actual Exmouth Festival programme next time around.

We have decided to keep the CRUSH UK website up and running. We looked at ways of managing the content and huge archive elsewhere and gave up :) So, you can still find us at www.crushuk.com
