Seasons greetings to you and yours.

I have been gently reminded of my responsibilities (as I promised) to keep you informed about events in the post CRUSH UK and indeed post REM era.

If you read our farewell bulletin you will know Weller, Dudley & Bell ceased to work together after out last trip to Oregon in September/October 2011.

If you didn't then I hope you are not too shocked.

However, our respective rocks are still rolling, so do keep 'em peeled for Rick and Dave's activities.

Meanwhile, I have a growing roster of acts which I am enjoying performing with thoroughly.

BobKatZ have been in existence since 2006 and despite a bit of a stuttering year due to 'big' birthdays, wedding anniversaries and the like, we are really enjoying playing classic pop from The Clash, Damned, Jam, Undertones, Ramones, Radiohead, Muse and loads of other stuff. 2012 is looking like we will be back on track with regular shows and new adventures in the pipeline.

Big 'Ed & The Red Rockers are going well too with a new bass player and lots of shows coming up next year. This brainchild came out of a rock n roll jam and now our set includes a host of favourites from the Bangles, Carly Simon, George Michael, Nirvana, Specials, Sweet;

songs to get you out of your seat :)

'The Kniks' are flying too playing hits by The Kinks and The Jam, while my Latin Pop duo with Mechelle Taylor 'MnM' is in the mix.

On top of all that, my solo 'career' is progressing well and I have such a back catalogue to choose from it is a joy to perform all my songs mixed with a spicy variety of other classics from Tennessee Ernie Ford to The Specials.

I have a few shows left in the run up to New Years Eve and a couple of dates so far in January, so here's to success and fun in 2012 and beyond.

Thank you if you wrote to me, or told me how upset you were to hear news of the end of CRUSH UK. We were around for 12 years when some folks said we wouldn't last more than 2 weeks with Dudley in the band.

I hope the songs that we recorded and the shows that we played during our tenure are somewhere in your music collections or memories because all the great times we

shared will live with us for as long as our minds hold out.

CRUSH UK_One more for the road

Hello

It's been a while.

We have been 'on a break' since our show in London this June.

I have decided that time is up for CRUSH UK after 12, mostly enjoyable years.

To commemorate our time together and celebrate the life of Don Younger, we are about to embark on a final hurrah with our friends in Oregon.

So, Weller, Dudley and Bell are off on the 'Tavern Rat Tour' which includes acoustic shows at:

CRUSH UK heading out West

Good day reader :)

CRUSH UK are taking a break from performing in England, but we head off for a ten day trip to Oregon in September.

This will be our fifth visit and we get to play private parties, new venues and old favourites including The Don's beloved Horse Brass Pub.

We are going for a stripped down acoustic vibe on the 'Tavern Rat' tour - something we are pretty good at :)

Meanwhile, we three are keeping busy and looking forward to catching up with our mates by the Pacific.

Tavern Rat tour September 2011

We are sorting out routes and venues where we, UK-Lele will play and drink many a toast to 'Tavern Rat' Don Younger and the Caveman en route around Oregon. Portland and Pacific City are a must, but new places beckon and we hope our hosts Joe and Sue will get us wherever we're going in their trusty RV :)

CRUSH UK alumni update April 2011

Greetings

We hope you are fine and dandy :)

Here we are well into 2011 and finally we get to tell you about our new recording 'Proper Job' as well as all the latest.

Returning for a moment to the end of January this year when we received news of the death of our dear friend, supporter and inspiration Don Younger.

Those of you who have followed us from even before the creation of CRUSH UK, when we were Crush and before that Frampton Weller, will have read about our meeting Don in the Prince (Princess) of Wales, Wimbledon in 1997 thanks to Debbie and Terry and our subsequent trips over to play in Oregon.

Don was a one-off. A man of strong views and belief in himself. Don shared his wisdom and enthusiasm with those he chose to befriend, or just hang out at a bar and chew the fat with – whether they asked for it or not ;)

The 'Tavern Rat' lived a full life and his legacy is there for all to see, not just with his beloved Horse Brass pub in Portland, Oregon but with the beer brewing business across the States and beyond.

I went to Don's memorial which was an incredible affair. So much love, respect, sadness and fun was shared in the Horse Brass pub and around the world via a virtual wake on Sunday 12^th February. The friends that Don brought together came from all walks of life and we celebrated his life and passing.

Far from it being the 'end' we all committed to keeping Don's work of uniting people and making the best of this crazy life through friendship. I am looking forward to our next trip in September to reacquaint :)

For our part, that is CRUSH UK or 'UK-lele' as we will be in the US next time, are heading back to Oregon for the 'Tavern Rat Tour' this September. Our friends Sue and Joe have offered to take us on a trip that we hope will see us landing in places familiar and new, to play our music. Perhaps we'll see some of “America, the way it used to be” :)

We hope to do better commercially with 'Proper Job' and I am currently hounding the media to have listen and critique the ten song (plus bonus tracks) opus.

It's still very exciting after all these years; the reject letters, e-mails, tweets, faceache messages, no response and then, the merest whiff of something to chase down because, you never know :)

Dudley is made up because he finally got his 'George Harrison moment' and has one of his songs, 'Always' on the record. We are very happy for him ;)

Proper Job captures the colour and shape of what we do live as well as getting the treatment from Weller and Dudley with additional guitars and Dudley supplying the majority of weird and wonderful instruments that make up the 'studio' sound.

Live and kickin'

In addition to our fifth US trip coming up this September, we're very excited to be playing at the Exmouth Festival in May and a special show at the Grey Horse in Kingston at the beginning of June among a host of other live performances planned for this, our twelfth year together!

CRUSH UK offer their inimitable electric/acoustic live show as ever and now, to fit into house party and small venue needs, we keep it low key and simply acoustic as 'UK-lele' a title coined by our man in Pacific City, Phil B :)

It means we can play all our hits and more without the need for electrickery – no big drum kit, or amps, just the three of us playing acoustic instruments.

A host of local bands, DJs and solo performers are preparing to present an all day music event to raise funds for Haiti and local charity, Soundwaves.

CRUSH UK were involved in the highly successful Haiti benefit concert at the Pavilion, Exmouth in January this year when more than £4000 was raised for the Haiti disaster appeal.

This reminded some of the successful Exe Aid concerts of the late 80's and early 90's when local musicians, of all ages and genres, came together to put on an annual event at the Pavilion.

So, it was proposed to resurrect the idea and the response has been fantastic.

The result is the Exe Aid event, this Sunday 26th September at Exmouth Pavilion.

Electric bands will perform in the hall with DJ sets between acts.

Acoustic acts will play in the bar with even more activities out on the lawn.

It will be a day for all the family to enjoy in a safe and fun environment.

Welcome to the CRUSH UK update for September 2010

Well the gods smiled on us this summer and all the festivals and open air events we performed at were blessed with great weather.

We have already booked a few shows for 2011 and it wont take long for the schedule to fill up.

As I say every year, please contact me/us as early as possible if you want us to play at your event. The message seems to have started to get through, but it's always as well to keep mentioning it to avoid disappointment – yours and ours :)

Headline news

The Exmouth Festival keeps a rollin

Big 'Ed & The Red Rockers + E.M.P + The Beacons + The Maratones + Open mic guests will appear on Sunday 19^th September in Manor Gardens, Exmouth from 2 – 6.30pm for what will almost certainly be the last show in the park this year.

The quality of performances right through the Summer has been unbelievably high and four of Exmouth's finest bands intend to keep the standard right up there.

All funds raised at the show will go towards next year's festival.

Bring a rug, picnic, umbrella, etc. and enjoy.

The return of Exe Aid

The following Sunday 26^th September sees the BobKatZ on the main stage and Weller in the foyer of Exmouth Pavilion performing as part of 'Exe Aid' to raise funds for the rebuilding of Haiti and 'Soundwaves' a local music charity.

Exe Aid was started in 1985 as part if Live Aid and once again there will be a host of great bands and acts who will play all day in two parts of the venue, so all tastes will be catered for.

£10 admission is a very modest admission price for what will be an amazing day.

CRUSH UK in Oregon 2011?

It's time to sort out our visit to see the good folks of Oregon again. We were sad not to have made it this year, but there are even more good reasons to get back there next year. Terry, Don et al expect a call :)

A stunning line-up of musicians played to raise money for cancer charities in the memory of Clare Millington who died of the disease in 1999.”

Music For Life_3.7.10 @ Beer Albion FC

Weller, Adam Sweet + Perfect Strangers, Laurie Ward, Jamie Gould and Steve Graham were among the acts that played on another sunny day in Beer, Devon. More than £10,000 was raised by a big crowd that supported the day for the Teenage Cancer Trust among other causes.

'The Sherry Morning', Lympstone_25.7.10

As it turned out, the final event that has helped to raise awareness and funds for the anti slavery campaign over the last thirty two years. This cosy and friendly event held in a back garden in Lympstone has outgrown the venue and may or may not move elsewhere next year.

The Exmouth contingent feat. Nigel Challis, Laurie Ward, Becky Brooks, Malcolm Horton and the inimitable Jeff Lewis did a great job entertaining folks on yet another beautiful day.

It makes such a difference when the sun shines :)

Other stuff

All the recent shows have been most enjoyable with the hat trick of Crush gigs at the Barrel, Lansdowne and First and Last possibly three of the best we have ever played!

CRUSH UK were due to head off to Oregon in August, but circumstances have dictated otherwise. So the landscape has changed somewhat, but there's still plenty of activity to follow.

Clarefest has been running since 1999 and hosts Terry and Debbie Chetwood are giving their garden over to the event once more. Clare's son, Nick Millington has organised the event with critical support from Paul Downes, Dave Atherton and a host of others that work to make the day such a joy for supporters and performers.

The first act will start around 2pm with music, fun and fund-raising going on until 7.30pm. The admission price of £6 (pay on entry) will be distributed between Macmillan, Hospiscare and the 'Force' cancer charity.

Exmouth Festival

Wow, what an incredible experience. Chris Woods and his team did an amazing job pulling together dozens of acts representing all genres of music over nine days. I have never enjoyed a festival quite so much. Great atmosphere, quality performances and all for free in the Manor Gardens and other local venues. Big 'Ed & The Red Rockers got the crowd on their feet on Bank Holiday Monday and I really hope CRUSH UK, BobKatZ, Weller & Big 'Ed can be part of the 2011 extravaganza.

Bay FM 107.9 FM, Exmouth's local radio station did a fine job MC-ing and broadcasting some of the live acts. Hopefully the station will be back on air again next year.

Saddlersfest, Saddlers Arms, Lympstone

The sun shone and the music was incredible at this year's pre Exmouth Festival event. Jamie Gould, Adam Sweet, Laurie Ward band, The Beacons and Workshy Rabbit put on terrific performances out in the garden followed by Wired and the BobKatZ rounding the day of in style in the Saddlers. We hope to include Saddlersfest in the actual Exmouth Festival programme next time around.

Welcome to the CRUSH UK et al update, May/June 2010

We hope you are well and happy.

We are all looking forward to a really busy couple of months and all the acts are going to be involved with the excellent Exmouth Festival for the first time. Feast your eyes on the incredible line up of artists, bands and activities at http://www.exmouthfestival.org.uk/

As well as the festival, Bay FM will be back on air from Monday 24th May for two weeks covering some of the
events and promoting local acts and live music events.
Weller is not presenting this year, but the station needs all the support it can to fulfil their ambition
to get a full time licence. Listen in locally on 107.9 FM or online www.bayfm.co.uk

The KatZ have enjoyed their recent shows and Big 'Ed's Kinks tribute was a joy.

New act nights at the Barrel, Exmouth have been a success too with star turns from The Chinchillas (now
called Maratones), Los No Boss, Adam Sweet and Laurie Ward. The future awaits these talented people.

: First off we have postponed our visit to Oregon this year.

: One or all of us intend to make it over next year to celebrate 35 years of the Horsebrass and Weller's half century. We hope the USA can wait :)

Welcome to the CRUSH UK update, February 2010

January was a busy month and apart from an embarrassingly poor turn out at the Anchor for the first CRUSH UK of the year, we enjoyed the opening to 2010.

News!

CRUSH UK et al helping Haitian survivors

It was an honour to be asked to help raise funds for survivors of the disaster in Haiti at the Exmouth Pavilion on Friday 22nd January and we would like to say a massive thanks to Jeff Lewis for his selfless endeavour that enabled the benefit concert to go ahead.

Exmouth Shantyman Jeff booked the acts (dozens more wanted to play – thank you all), he also sorted the venue and swept up afterwards ;)

The event raised just over £4000 thanks to an exuberant and generous audience.

This is obviously a mere raindrop in terms of what is required to rebuild lives and infrastructure in Haiti, but it was a great gig and the outstanding performances included sets from: The Chicken Slacks, Paul Strange Quartet, Exmouth Shantymen, Malcolm Horton, Laurie Ward (& The Red Rockers ;), Lara Conley and Chris Woods.

Our punk buddies, The Reoffenders are taking up the baton and alongside Kiss This & El Cojones will be performing for the children of Haiti.

The bands are giving their services free for the evening on Friday 19th February and all monies received will go directly to UNICEF for Haiti's children.

Old Big 'Ed

The Big 'Ed & The Red Rockers gigs at the end of January were great fun, which is the reason the band exists.

We had a blast at the punk night at The Barrel and the next day performed a fabulous array of classic rock n roll, R&B, pop, punk & rock at the First & Last.

Next up is an 80s night at the Barrel on March 13th featuring not one, but two female singers! Not to be missed :)

KatZ get the fur flying

The first BobKatZ gigs of the year at the beginning of February were excellent.

After a seven week rest, we were fired up and despite a few rusty bits, the KatZ were back on form.

We have a few dates left this year having purposely not filled the diary to give us a chance to play more festivals, parties, etc. Well that's the plan anyway :) If you want us, please get in touch asap.

Exmouth hosts Haitian benefit concert

In response to the Haiti disaster, the Music community of Exmouth has reacted rapidly, and organised a benefit concert at the Pavilion, Exmouth on Friday, 22nd January 2010.

A variety of genres will be represented by The Chicken Slacks, Paul Strange Quartet, CRUSH UK, Exmouth Shantymen, Malcolm Horton, Laurie Ward, Lara Conley, Martin Nicholls and more appearing for no fee. Doors at 7.30 for 8.00 start. £10 on door (U16, make a sensible donation) Raffle & Auction Your support would be most welcome.

Hi all

Here’s a quick update on the adventures of: CRUSH UK,
Martin Weller, BobKatZ and Big 'Ed and The Red Rockers
for November 2009

Another proper Devon weekend ahead for CRUSH UK

We are back again for another proper visit to the
region. It was only last month when we played three
shows in the region, but we are breaking new ground
this time with our first ever performance in Muse's
home town of Teignmouth.

We'll be kicking off the weekend at the Kings Arms and
could use some support from the local posse Saturday
sees us at the Longbrook, Exeter and we round things
off with a home game at the Exmouth Arms on Sunday.

All in all it should be a cracker.

CRUSH UK - London show

We'd been going on about playing in the Republic for
ages and after a bit of aggro with Amnesty
International, etc. we enjoyed a really lovely evening
with an intimate crowd and even had comedian Lee Mack
as a warm up act

It was fun and if we're still around we'll see you in
another 5 years.

Open mic nights with Weller and co

Next up – tonight, Wednesday 4th November at Ashcombe
Village Club. Come on down and give us a rendition of
your favourite songs

A host of local artists have been presenting regular
Monday open mic nights at the Famous Old Barrel,
Exmouth for the last year and on Monday 9th November we
will be celebrating the first anniversary with Jeff
Lewis who started the ball rolling. A huge variety of
acts will be playing just one number each, so come and
see what it's all about.

Weller's next open mic event at the Barrel will be on
Monday 21st December, so brush the cobwebs off your
carols for a bit of a seasonal bash

Yeah, I know. The leaves are falling, it's getting dark at stupid o'clock, but never mind we have plenty of shows to entertain you.

Proper Devon weekend ahead for CRUSH UK

After what seems like months since our last proper visit to the region (what with the BobKatZ stealing the limelight :), there's a proper Exmouth bonanza this weekend for CRUSH UK. We will be playing at three of our favourite venues in the South West showcasing new material as well as our classic mix to the Devon faithful :)

Introducing 'Big 'Ed and the Red Rockers'

The latest addition to the CRUSH UK alumni is party band 'Big Ed and the Red Rockers' (anyone remember 'Dragonfly'?) - Not content with Crush, the KatZ and a 'solo career' Weller decided to introduce another outfit who specialise in playing music from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
It was just an idea that seems to have captured the imagination and old big head seems to be in demand :)
The musicians may changes from gig to gig, but the players are all quality and you might see some familiar faces in the line ups ;)

Open mic nights

Weller has been hosting open mic nights in Exmouth for a while, but the latest evening, a new venture at the Ashcombe Village Club was great fun and he has been invited to host another event on Wednesday 4th November. So you have plenty of time to brush up on your favourite songs and come and give us a star performance. 'Marnie' deserves a special mention for her showcase on September 24th. Marnie was terrific and we hope to see her at the club again.

The regular Monday open mic nights at the Famous Old Barrel, Exmouth are very successful, but there is always room for new talent, so feel free to drop by any Monday night from 8.30pm.

Hello

I know it has been a while, but hopefully you have managed to survive :)

Here’s the latest from Martin Weller, CRUSH UK & BobKatZ for September 2009.

August was a month we will never forget for reasons good and bad. Thanks to everyone for their support through the rough times.

Highs

The highlights were our shows at the Dawlish Red Arrows Air Display and Topsham carnival.

Larkfest

Despite the drizzle Larkfest went well too with great performances by BobKatZ, Stillyano and CRUSH UK on the 'main stage' plus terrific acoustic acts in the yurt including Becky Brooks, Geoff Martin, Alison & Francine and many more.

Special thanks to Josie Lloyd who played and organised the musicians. Well done for managing not to thump Mike as well :)

We raised £600 for Hospiscare and WPSA into the bargain.

September has started quite well despite our cancelled show due to the MUSE boys' shows in Teignmouth.

Happy Days 50s night

Last Saturday's Rock n Roll night at the Famous Old Barrel featuring 'Big Ed and the Red Rockers' & 'MeerKatZ' was a blast. Next up will be a 60s night. It's great to be diverse! No prizes for guessing who 'Big Ed' is ;)

Open mic events

Weller would like to thank Mike Ellis for the invitation to play at a fund raiser for Devon Air Ambulance Trust at Cheriton Bishop. A really enjoyable day which again raised £1600 + :)

On a sour note, our London show at the Grove Tavern, Wimbledon scheduled for October 23^rd is off, so we are on the hunt for a replacement. All ideas for another venue welcome. Despite this late set back we hope the show at the Grey Horse will go ahead.

Good day

Here’s the latest from Martin Weller, CRUSH UK & BobKatZ for August 2009

We have enjoyed another month of good shows, great audiences and also helped to raise more money for charities including £2800 for Teenage Cancer Trust, so we’re happy :)

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust show with Thick as Thieves on Paignton Sea Front was terrific and the sun played it’s part.

Weller also played his first ‘Anti Slavery’ gig – www.antislavery.org - Who knew?

The Crush trip to Jersey was an experience :) We worked hard and did the job. Bing was a real asset taking on more of the set list than before and playing bouncer into the bargain.

The KatZ didn’t get to support the UK Subs or Quo, but they have been busy recording some of Weller’s new songs. Whatever next? :)

A special mention for honorary Kat, Ben Partridge who deputised on drums for Stewart. Ben did us proud once again.

OK, we’ve got a heavy schedule this month (say it how you like), so come on down and show some love if you can.

Hey ho.

We enjoyed playing to large and enthusiastic crowds at Chambers in Jersey. A massive pub was full both nights so hopefully they made loadsa money :)

A special mention for Bing who did herself proud particularly on 'Hot legs' and 'These boots are made for walkin'. Let's go girls :)

Dunno if we'll be back, but it was an experience!

CRUSH UK are out of the game for a few weeks now and Weller is busy with his solo shows and the KatZ.

The 'Martin Weller Band' is also in the pipeline for 2010.

It's all go and we hope to see you at the shows regardless who's in the line up :)

June was great for body, mind and soul with a wealth of great shows and loadsa money raised for a number of charities thanks to all three acts plus Bing and Sara, so we are feeling good :)

Clarefest 2009 – Best ever?

Wow, what an amazing day. All the acts were excellent and around £3,000 was raised for FORCE, Macmillan Nurses and Hospiscare.

Thanks to Paul Downes, Debbie and Terry, Dave Atherton and everyone who helped make it happen and to all of you who came along.

Word is that it might be happening again next year after all :)

It has been an amazing week with Weller, Hobson, Corser, CRUSH UK and BobKatZ helping to raise over £4,500 for a number of charities at the Mamhead Fete and Clarefest at the weekend and at the Marine Tavern open mic music event last night.

Although the total from last night isn't in yet, we helped to collect funds and raise awareness of 'Richard's Wish' a wonderful local charity that helps kids with cancer making some of their wishes come true.

The variety of musical styles was inspiring and the performances outstanding.

My thanks goes to Andy and Hilary for hosting the night and making the first donation; all of you who came and supported the event and to those who took the stage with such aplomb including: Dave Reed, Bing, Francine Tullis, Alison Foden, Roz (Superstar) Partridge, Ollie, Josie Lloyd and Geoff Martin.

Dawlish musicians help make wishes come true

The Marine Tavern, Dawlish will be holding an open mic music night on Thursday 25th June 2009 starting at 9pm.

Local musicians including yours truly, who is playing host for the evening, will perform and everyone is welcome to come along, sing, play or just have fun and support a wonderful local charity ‘Richards Wish’.

Andy and Hilary who run the bar are terrific supporters of local causes with quizzes and other activities throughout the year. This time they selected ‘Richards Wish’, a charity that helps kids with cancer, making some of their wishes come true.

The open mic evening will be something different and special with people giving what they can afford for each song. Hopefully the more they like the performances, the more they will chip in :)

About ‘Richards Wish’

Jo Cridge writes: "Richards Wish is a charity that we wanted to set up after losing our son Richard in September 2008.

Richard had Ewings Sarcoma (childhood form of cancer) he was diagnosed in July 2006, he had 2 solid years of chemotherapy but the cancer did not give in and Richard died aged 17.

We set up the charity in memory of Richard and decided its purpose is to give treats, activities, etc to children, teens and young adults with cancer.

So far we have bought Exeter City tickets, sent a young lad to Manchester United for the day, bought several lots of driving lessons for teenagers and have just bought 714 tickets for seven little girls and their families to see Angelina Ballerina at the Princess Theatre.

Richards Wish will do anything for youngsters to help them cope with cancer.

All money raised at the Marine Tavern open mic music night will be put to very good use.”

We are all set to head over the channel for two shows on Friday 17th July and Saturday 18th July @ CHAMBERS, 5 Mulcaster Street, St Helier, Jersey JE2 3NJ - 01534 735405 - 11pm

Recommended by The Reoffenders we are delighted to get an opportunity like this. We won’t be going Stateside for the foreseeable so this mini jaunt is a bonus. The Quails have been over recently and blew the place away, so there’s a challenge :)

CRUSH UK – 99-09: Ten Years Of CRUSH UK

CRUSH UK have been doing their thing for ten years now. The UK based trio have four albums, a number one single (Crush), and a top ten hit (Meaning Of Life) to their name, as well as a loyal following in both the UK and the United States. Lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Martin Weller drives the band as a creative force, but drummer Rick bell and bassist Dave Dudley add that extra magic that turn CRUSH UK from a singer/songwriter project into a vibrant ensemble.

CRUSH UK will complete their fifth studio album in 2009. The as-yet-unnamed project figures to mix CRUSH UK’s usual influences of Pop, Punk, Country, Blues and Rock. In the meantime, CRUSH UK is offering a best of CD through their website called 99-09: Ten Years Of CRUSH UK.

99-09 has some very worthwhile songs you'll want to hear. Strange Love is a real gem. Weller's urgent vocal style works well in an acoustic pop song that deserves some serious attention. Reach Out is another great acoustic pop construct. Reach Out will have your toes tapping and you'll find yourself singing along, particularly to the infectious chorus. Pop Song is a frenetic 1960's style rocker that is truly a fun listen.

My personal favorite song on 99-09 is Tall Society, a deliciously infectious, Beatles-esque tune you won't be able to get out of your head. Crush UK gives us a remarkably compact pop arrangement on Meaning Of Life, another song you'll have a hard time getting out of your head.

CRUSH UK goes almost Rockabilly on Enjoy The Moment, one of the best light moments in their catalog. Other song highlights include Greedy Martine, Today & Tomorrow, Stronger and Outrageous.

Whether you're already acquainted with CRUSH UK or you've never heard of them before, it’s worth your time to check out 99-09. I have to admit that I'd heard of them before but never listened to any of their music. There are some great musical nuggets there for those who take the time to listen.

CRUSH UK_Three of the best

These were our first outings since January 2009, but we had not been idle.

New Weller songs and an injection of classic cuts revitalised the band and we were fired up for our shows.

But first, a little drama; testing out the bass amp on Friday afternoon I was greeted by a plume of electrical smoke! A quick call to ‘Nicky Louder’ of the BobKatZ and we had a replacement. So thanks Nick, you are a star :)

Onwards and upwards……

Friday 27th March @ The White Lion, Bradninch was fun. A great little venue, probably the smallest area we have fitted into, but we played well to the select few that chose to come and see from Taunton, Bristol and Great Yarmouth; anywhere in fact apart from Bradninch it would seem :)

Dunno what we've done to upset the locals, but we all had a good time. We have no plans to return to the village, so it was a good one-night stand to remember it by :)

Saturday 28th March @ Swan Inn, Lympstone smelled wonderful. The Swan is a restaurant, but has the occasional band and we were fortunate to play for Jo and Darren’s leaving do. Definitely the largest venue in the village we had room to manoeuvre and put on a good show. The sound was terrific and our very own Crushettes, Sara and Bing really made it a party with version of ‘Man, I feel like a woman’ and ‘Mamma mia’ to round proceedings off nicely.

We lost an hour to the pointless change to ‘British summer time’ and sat up til stupid o’clock shooting the breeze just because :)

Sunday 29th March @ First and Last, Exmouth – the church of rock and roll!

Wow, what an late afternoon/evening. We played our little socks off to a wonderfully appreciative audience that contained some of our most favourite people in the world.

We debuted three new Weller songs as well as Floyd’s ‘See Emily play’ and Rod’s ‘Hot legs’ with Bing on lead vocal.

It was a blast and we thank Alison for these kind words posted on Lemonrock: “This was the first time that I’ve seen CRUSH UK. I thought they were really fantastic and will defo see them again”.

It just remains to say thank you to those involved with the band including Allan whose roadie skills are first rate :) and to everyone who supported us through the weekend and beyond.

We are truly blessed.
